Choosing Your Next Party Venue: Restaurant, Hotel or Home?

Party planning is all about the details.  Where to begin? Once you’ve chosen the date, consider which will be the perfect venue for your party: a restaurant, hotel or home:

Home

Hosting a party at home can be a budget-friendly and flexible option. Carte blanche over menu and décor will require time and effort, but your own inimitable style will shine. But make sure you’re up to the task. Is there sufficient space and parking to accommodate your guest list? Will you need to borrow or rent tables, chairs, dishes, glasses, and linens? Hotel

A hotel, with its choice of spacious event rooms, is especially suited to larger groups. There will be plenty of room for dancing, a band or DJ. Most hotels will offer on-site assistance with party-planning, and you’ll be leaving the setup and cleanup to the professionals while you enjoy the festivities.  Will there be a large number of out of town visitors? Your guests will appreciate the ability to head right up to their room, especially for those who wish to enjoy a few cocktails. Many hotels will offer room discounts for large groups. Remember, however, that a hotel event will likely offer less flexibility in menu and décor.

Restaurant

Choose one of your favorite restaurants for your affair and you’re assured that your guests will enjoy fabulous cuisine! A restaurant venue generally works best for groups of 50 or less, and provides a more intimate setting than a hotel. A lovely restaurant setting also means that you won’t need to focus much on decorations. Keep in mind that a restaurant may have limited or no space for dancing or other activities you might plan.
