The Key to Outdoor Parties
When the weather is nice, don’t stay cooped up in your house. Outdoor parties are a summer time favorite, so move your party outside and allow your guests to enjoy the fresh air! From birthdays to anniversaries, or weddings to casual get-togethers, any outdoors location will be an instant success when you’re throwing a summer party.
Timing is everything, and good weather is crucial when it comes to outdoor parties. Make sure that you check the forecast far ahead of time to ensure that it will be nice on the day of your party. Remember: If you’re having a day party that will carry over into nighttime, remind your guests to bring something warm to wear once the sun goes down. You can also bring in extra lighting and some heaters for parties that go well into the night.
Having your party in your own backyard is always great and convenient. Decorate with chairs, tables and fun lights, so your guests have a place to relax as well as socialize with one another. A large canopy or tent creates a breezy, shady spot where guests can mingle. Not everyone likes hanging out in the sun, so if it’s a sunny, warm day, it’s important to provide guests with a cool place where they can socialize in case they get too warm. If you don’t want to set up a canopy tent, patio or market umbrellas are a great substitution.
Remember, the key to any outdoor party is to have plenty of comfortable seating, so guests will want to hang out all afternoon! Rearrange seating in vignettes of four to six, six to eight, and eight to ten. This will give guests a comfortable place to relax, mingle and meet new people. Create the ultimate lounge space by renting comfortable ottomans and couches.
A barbeque is always an instant success at any outdoor party. Make sure that you cook a variety of different meats (including a vegetarian option), so that all of your guests can enjoy the meal! If you cooking space is not large enough for your hungry crowd, you can always rent larger BBQs or griddles.
The key is to create an atmosphere in which your guest will have a great time, while minimizing your self-inflicted stress.

I really like that you talked about checking the weather ahead of time. I have been planning a retirement party for my dad, but I haven’t checked the forecast yet. I’ll be sure to do that before setting an official date. Thanks so much for the advice!

My daughter is turning 16 next month, and we plan to give her the best house party ever. She’s a very friendly girl, so we know that we might have to invite a large number of people. In that case, we have to rent a lot of chairs to accommodate all of them. To create a nice seating arrangement for the party, I love that you suggested placing them in four to six, six to eight, and eight to ten. Thanks for the tips!
